Our Mission

Founded May 19, 1998, the Gilchrist Community Association (GCA) serves as a nonprofit steward of memory, advocacy, and care for the Gilchrist community on the Bolivar Peninsula.

While the peninsula stretches approximately 25 miles along the Texas Gulf Coast, GCA’s focus is rooted specifically in Gilchrist—centered around Rollover Pass, extending roughly a mile east and west. This sacred stretch of land is the heart of our stewardship.“The purpose of the Gilchrist Community Association is to provide charitable and educational services to improve and enhance the quality of life for all residents and visitors of Bolivar Peninsula.”

This mission guides every act of service—from elevating a new community sign to welcoming new members. It reflects our commitment to care, connection, and legacy.

What We Do

  • Design and elevate a new community sign as a symbol of welcome and remembrance

    • With the support of local and regional advertisers, the sign will allow GCA to donate funds on a regular basis back to the community—turning visibility into stewardship

  • Coordinate membership and legacy preservation

  • Partner with county and state agencies to ensure our voice is heard

  • Host updates, gatherings, and quiet rituals that keep our story alive

Our Leadership

The Gilchrist Community Association is currently guided by a small leadership team, including a president, a secretary, and one board member. This structure will evolve as GCA holds future meetings and elections, expanding our board and deepening our stewardship through broader community participation.

Rollover Pass and the Land We Serve

Rollover Pass was once a vital waterway and gathering place. It has since been filled in by the county and state, and construction is underway to build Rollover Pier. GCA continues to honor this sacred stretch of land and the memory it holds.
